July 2013 e-mail to the White House

Mr. Obama:

When you asked Americans to honor Travon Martin with tolerance and restraint, what shall we honor him for? Shall we honor him for being a would be thug? Should we honor him for using drugs; or for attacking and attempting to kill the neighborhood watch? Should we honor him for thievery?

The George Zimmerman case should never have gone to trial. There should never have been a George Zimmerman case. I must also question why the Justice Department is planning to review the case. Why is that a Federal matter at all? If there must be a review, the state of Florida should be able to handle the matter.

Just to give you some idea, sir, I was born in the 1950s. My parents raised me to be colorblind; to see people for what they were. From my childhood, I watched the first American travel into space and I also saw that this nation can reach a seemingly impossible goal when we are all one people.

The Constitution of the United States of America was put into place to protect the people; all of the people. The Bill of Rights guarantees freedom from tyranny. These documents were written in plain language. You don't need a doctorate in constitutional law to understand them.

Mr. Obama, in your final years in the office which you are not eligible to hold, please do America and people everywhere a favor. Uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States of America.

Thank you.
